The Small States and Territories Working Group Meeting

The Supervisory and Financial Information Authority (ASIF) participated in the meeting of the Small States and Territories Working Group (STWG), held in Gibraltar on 4 and 5 November 2025.

The STWG was established by a number of small jurisdictions within the framework of MONEYVAL with the aim of strengthening cooperation and promoting the exchange of expertise in the fight against financial crime.

The meeting provided an opportunity to advance the work on two important projects focused on countering terrorist financing and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, both of particular relevance for small jurisdictions and territories.

During the working sessions, significant guidance papers were finalised to support competent authorities in identifying, assessing and mitigating risks related to proliferation financing and terrorist financing, in line with the FATF Recommendations.

The discussions benefited from the experience and contributions of the participating jurisdictions and provided an important forum for addressing the specific challenges faced by small States in implementing international AML/CFT/CPF standards.

ASIF expresses its appreciation to the Financial Intelligence Unit of Gibraltar for the excellent organisation of the meetings and the warm hospitality extended to all participants.
